the VIDBLOC: Amy Winehouse is Rapping Now?

The London train wreck better known as Amy Winehouse has appeared back up on the net and this time she is moving in a whole new musical direction. Can you see the arean billboard marquees now - Hot new summer Hip Hop tour of 2010 featuring Raekwon, Kid Cudi, and Amy Winehouse *record scratches*.
Yep Amy folks Amy Winehouse is trying to rap in this freestyle session video posted below.

Her skills are elementary at best, but her back up singers may need to jump ship and form their own band. In the words of Autty "Take a looksie for yourself".

The Flat Screen: "Project Runway" Ep 7 - Fade to Blue?

Ra'Mon is gone (tear) after a disastrous yet risky and ambitious green lizard leather Sci-Fi piece that cost him his place in the competition. But its a new day, new dawn, same ol' next challenge where the only clue is 'Colorful'. This week, the designers get to make a Blue wonder for Macy's INC Brand with the chance of making a Holiday dress for their Winter line......Epp makes a fab point that they have to make something that will fit into Macy's existing line and not make a piece that is necessarily their own personal style.

They get 15 min to sketch and then an opportunity to pitch to Macy's in order to become the "chosen" Team Lead (TL) for this challenge - and to show how serious this challenge really is ....there is no immunity....

The Teams: Irina (TL) and Gordana Althea (TL) and Logan Carol Hanna (TL) and Shirin Christopher (TL) and Epp Louise (TL) and Nicholas (with his fab immunity)

Off to mood, they go with a $100 budget, Gordana and Irina look as if they are going to have issues and Louise loses her money to pay for the fabric, just for a moment though, but truly showing her scatterbrain personality. This challenge should be interesting...Chris and Epp are working well together and piggybacking off each other which is good. We discover Louise's "Bird" side - she totally makes bird noises to relieve the stress which may I add is totally Louise and that's not in a good way.

At Tim's check in...

Everyone is ride or die on Tim's feedback which he gives wholeheartedly. He sees immediately that Gordana and Irina need to get it together. Epp and Chris have allegedly reinvented the Men's Shirtdress per Gunn and he thinks Carol Hanna 's teal fabric will accentuate the overall piece.

Ultimately, I'm not really impressed with most of the looks at his check -in, nothing fascinating and nothing Macy's AND at this point, I need to be wow'd.

Off to the runway, we go...

Judge Rollcall: Martine Reardon, Zanna Moore, and Michael Kors...and clearly Heidi

The pressure is taking over everybody and the judges are getting harder and harder; The skirt on Althea's just kept getting smaller and smaller as her model worked the runway;

Despite the drama, Gordana and Irina pulled out one of the higher scores;

Louise's piece was a bridesmaid dress that was vomiting ruffles; she ultimately went ruffle crazy and the lucky one, Nicholas and his fab immunity just go right along because hey, he is free and clear of getting cut;

Kors' went hard and makes Chris cry uncontrollably (which was scary) - The fact is Chris designed two TOTALLY different styles that just looked an immediate and scary mess. It actually shocked me because we all know how much I love this dude.

The verdict - Irina (the hater) wins with a fab dress that is very Macy's and she will get the opportunity to make a fab Holiday dress. This makes Irina someone to consider for Bryant Park but the next show will only tell. Despite, Christopher on the verge of a severe heart attack he doesn't get the boot ...while, Louise doesn't get off that easy ....she got the boot due to the Ruffle overdosage.

Get Irina's take....

the YARD: College Dating Do's and Dont's

I’m here to bless you with another valuable lesson from the wonderful world we call “College Life”.

The number one rule when you are preparing for the social life of college is to break up with your significant other. It doesn’t matter how long the high school relationship lasted, or how much the two of you are in “love” …take my advice just END IT! Once you set foot on campus, the “College Life” will open your mind and heart to a whole new world.

Now I know this may seem a little harsh, but if it really is a true relationship, it will carry on beyond High School. College is a time to experience life, you don’t want to limit yourself from talking to people who may broaden your horizons, because you never know who you may stumble across.

Now if you come to college single and looking to quickly jump into a relationship; that to is a BIG NO NO! First you barely know the person. Secondly, you just got here why is a relationship your MAIN focus when it should really come later ya know?! All i’m saying is DON’T come to college with a boyfriend who goes to another school or the same school and DON’T jump into a relationship as soon as you head to college its not worth it you’ll have time.

Think before you ACT.

Yours Truly,

Cee Nicole

September Tax Tip:
People often say a college education is the best investment a person can make, but with the costs of tuition, books and supplies rising fast, you have to wonder if it’s an affordable one anymore. While the government and IRS rarely, rarely get any praise, one seldom mentioned program we think does deserve attention is the American Opportunity Tax Credit.

For 2009 and 2010, the AOTC has a lot more bite than its predecessor, the Hope Education Tax Credit. First, the IRS raised the maximum amount of the credit from $1,800 to $2,500 per student, and the credit can now be claimed for the first four years of post-secondary education, rather than only the first two years. Second - and this is huge - is that the credit can now be used for “course materials,” which include books, supplies and even course study equipment such as a laptop for business majors or a digital camera for aspiring photojournalists.

The credit begins to phase out (gradually reduce) if your gross income is between $80,000 and $90,000 ($160,000 to $180,000 for joint filers), and 40 percent of the credit is now generally refundable, meaning you still receive up to $1,000 even if you owe no taxes. So while college and, “The best eight years of your life,” generally aren’t free, ol’ Uncle Sam is ready to lend a hand - for the first four at least.

For more information on taking advantage of the American Opportunity Tax Credit or your personal tax strategy, please contact an associate at Wendroff & Associates at 703-553-1099. Also, please look out for our upcoming Technical Solutions: QuickBooks Online Advanced Webinar, which will feature advanced QuickBooks Online techniques and an open Q&A with the CPA. The webinar will be totally free, and you can attend from your office or home computer.

the STOOP: Nas’ Message to The Youth Regarding Chicago Teen Beaten and Killed

Nasir Jones needs no lead in to his words to the wayward youths that continue to commit senseless acts of violence amongst each other:
Dear Young Warriors fighting the wrong wars! Killing each other is definitely played out. Being hurt from the loss of a love one was never cool.

Dear Young Warriors fighting the wrong war! I know that feeling, that frustration with life and needing to take it out on someone, anyone. But….
We chose the dumbest things to go the hardest for. I remember seeing deaths over 8 ball jackets, fila’s, and name plate chains. Deaths over “he say she say”!!!!! “I’m from This block or I’m from that block,” or “my moms n pops is f*cked up now the whole world gotta pay!!!”
I remember feeling like I was the hardest “n*gga” breathin. And I couldn’t wait to prove it.
But let’s think. What r we really proving?? And proving what to who?? Everybody knows Chicago breeds the strongest of the strong but I just feel, me, being ya brother from another state, feel your pain as if I grew up with you in ya very own household.
You have the ability and mindpower to change the way we are looked at. Look who’s watching us young warriors, look who’s throwin us in jail constantly, look at the ignorance in the world. Look at the racist dogs who love to see us down. Lovin to bury us in the ground or in jail where we continue this worthless war on one another. Young warriors…. We are WASTING more and more time. We gotta get on our jobs and take over the world. Cuz this movie left the theaters years ago, Juice, Menace, Boys n the Hood, Blood n Blood Out, Belly!
When we see each other why do we see hatred? Why were we born in a storm, born soldiers, WARRIORS….and instead of building each other up we are at war with each other.. May the soul of this young person find peace with the Almighty. I’m with you young warriors. You’re me and I’m you. But trust me! You are fighting the wrong war.
This sh*t sucks !!
-From Ran @ OURBLOC -
To our Young, Black, Future Kings and Queens... Enough is enough. We don't need the news media to highlight what is going on out here in our communities. Many see it everyday; it's been a generational cancer that continues to spread year after year. There has to come a point in time when we get tired of the same nonsense and bull. Come on, life is not as bleak as the world makes it out to be for us. This is the time to rise up, take control of your future and do things your siblings and parents could only imagine years ago. It's not preaching, but if you suffer the same tragic situation, it won't be breathing either. Wake up Young World...If you want things to change then let's start that change today.

To the parents of these Young, Black, Future Kings and Queens ... stop being selfish. Give your children an opportunity to make a difference. There are many out there that are doing what they are supposed to do and for that I say keep doing what you are supposed to do. You don't deserve a congratulations or a gold star for raising your child to have some sense. Why...because that is what you are suppose to do.
To the ones who want to make an excuse as  to why you can't check your kids homework, or why you can't make sure your kids get involved in at least free activities...HOW DARE YOU SPEAK OUT to end the violence. Just making sure the little ones have food on the table and clothes on their back, is not your only job. I understand you will not agree with these words, but there comes a time when we have to break the generational curse. You are doing all that you can, but if you are not taking advantage of the programs out there like Big Brother Big Sister, local church, for example, then how dare you say you are doing what you need to do? Yes I am hard on you because in order for change to truly happen, it has to begin in the home first. Lean on the positive individuals in the community...you don't have to do it on your own.
We all have to work together to be a proponent for change if we want our culture and community to rise from the ashes like a Phoenix. I have this one question for everyone including me... Today is day 0 ... what will we do to get our community to day 1 of change?
We love you and our Community... let's take it back ... BRICK by BRICK

the Polling Station: Wally World Represents You Americans

New Vanity Fair Poll released yesterday on "60 Minutes" shows that the new face of our country is not the innovative giants of Google and Microsoft, nor the fantasy league driven NFL, nor the titan of the New Wall Street Goldman Sachs. Want to know who the new face of the lovely United States of America, the country that was once known as the "Land of Opportunity", home of the free and the cheap I guess now since Wal-Mart is the epitome of what's American.

This is sad to me because Wal-Mart is the reason that this country can't get restarted. Outside of the U.S. Wally World is actually looked at a negative business operator; don't believe me...pull up the reports of how Wal-Mart was kicked out of more foreign countries than embraced. You know what Wal-Mart represents to me? It represents cheap, low quality products that aim to squeeze the life out of competition by portraying the face of low pricing.

Now I know many people are against what I am saying, however, sit back and do an audit of Wal-Mart purchases. Ask yourself this “How many times did I buy something from here and 3-6 months later you was back at Wally World buying the same item again?” I remember when Wally World was one of the only places that supported "Made In the USA", but now its more so "Made in Every Country we can Exploit, but Sold for Maximum Profit". I guess what I can not fathom is why the middle class gets mad at big corporations for laying off, but yet accept being pimped by the likes of the Wal-Mart machine. Might as well be turning tricks in the check out line as often as Wally pimps us.

I know everyone is like "wait, I can get medicine for cheap there!" You know why you can? It's because
Wal-Mart did not want to enhance their prescription program for their employees, so they decided to negotiate a cheap price and require their employees to only buy from their pharmacy. Most will be like I don't see anything wrong with that, but what if an employee needs a prescription drug that Wally World doesn't carry? Yep, the employee is now penalized heavily.

Another poignant point about the Wal-Mart cheap machine is look at the number of employee lawsuits that have been brought against them and settled out of court. Lawsuits such as not unequal pay and promotions for Women, overworked workers not getting the shaft on overtime pay, yada, yada, yada. I can continue to re-hash the known, but what’s the point? *singing* “Our country tis the Thee…Wal-mart is pissin’ on me…and now we are cheap cheap cheap…”

Regardless if you agree with my viewpoint or not, do you really want this organization to represent what is everything American? I would rather have Toyota or Honda be considered the Face of our Nation rather than the Wally World drudge machine. Harsh but so very true; Wal-Mart started off American and is now in my opinion everything anti-American. It’s a sad, dark day for American business knowing that Wal-Mart is now the pinnacle of what’s American.

On a lighter note...enjoy http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/ - got to love it

the Picture Show: Paranormal Activity

Twitter has been a buzz for the last few weeks tweeting about Paranormal Activity and today I finally got to watch the trailer. Earlier, Yahoo.com published a story about the movie which called "Paranormal Activity" one of the scariest movies ever. I have to admit that the trailer did spoke me a bit...LOL, but it could be nothing more than Blair Witch 2009 lol.If you were one of the ones watched all the trailers, read the false story about the Blair Witch, then went opening night to get scared ishless just to find out afterwards it was the greatest hoax of all time, then you may want to check this out.

The OURBLOC.com team has a scary movie buff in Always_Inspired and The Autty is down for a great horror flick from time to time, so we are going to check it out this week. If you seen this movie, let us know your thoughts. If you are clueless as to what we are talking about right now, watch the below trailer.

*Disclaimer* don't get mad at me if you are unable to sleep after watching it...LOL.

This will be our first full movie review for 2009. Damn seriously I have chills already thinking about it and I am far from a scary person...LOL.

More to come ....
